An access management plan goes beyond the traditional corridor or roadway improvement study to address land development and access management opportunities along a roadway corridor. It is a versatile planning tool that can be used to prevent access issues in the future or provide solutions to existing problems. Generally, the plan is used to evaluate roadway design and access characteristics and propose changes that improve the roadway’s safety. Plans can be conceptual or detailed with specific recommendations for parcels or zones along a corridor. The below image is an example of an aerial access management plan.
