On Sunday, July 10, 2016 a section of Main Street in Hinsdale was transformed to showcase ideas for making the Town Center a more walkable, bikeable, and vibrant place. The event took place at the same time as the Hinsdale Farmer’s Market, and it included various streetscape elements, including:
> Traffic calming measures, such as a pinch point (i.e. choker) and curb extensions;
> Enhanced landscaping;
> Shared bicycle lane markings, also called “Sharrows”;
> A protected bike lane on one side of the road; and
> Pedestrian crosswalks at driveway entrances.
Throughout the demonstration, attendees were encouraged to fill out comment cards and provide feedback on the event. A total of 26 written comment were collected; click here for a summary of the public comments.
