The Keene Complete Streets Demonstration event took place on Saturday, September 19, 2015on Marlboro Street. The event featured two protected bike lanes, two new crosswalks (in addition to the existing crosswalk at Grove Street), curb extensions, a pedestrian refuge island, a pop-up bus stop, outdoor seating, a bike art bench created by the Keene-based Friends of Public Art group, landscaped areas, and creative uses of on-street parking spaces such as a mini golf course, a parklet, and cafe seating area. Activities included bicycle tours of downtown Keene, a bike art and kinetic sculpture exhibition, free yoga, free bicycle tune-ups, a special City Express bus route, live music, and food trucks.
